  1. Black Box: Benefits of a Glossary

In this project each student contributed 20 vocabularies to a collaborative glossary. This is very beneficial for many reasons. It’s a good way for the reader to know meanings. There is no need to go to the dictionary because it is in the book. It is also a good way for the writer to build our own vocabulary.

It also improves English skills because we need to write the definition. Writing the meaning of these words helps the writer to build his vocabulary and difficult to forget. Last but not least, glossary means vocabulary or words and these are very important for English learner to improve the English language.

  2. Black Box: The Benefit t of Differentiated Instruction
In Differentiated Instruction each student can follow a path of their interest. In my case I decided to investigate the Space Shuttle. Other classmates chose other topics and this helps as we can exchange knowledge and get more than if we all looked at the same thing.
I think Differentiated Instruction it is a useful idea, because each students choose different topic that he don’t know about it which made the searching for the information more interesting rather than students do the same topic. Also it let as do more effort to reach the best information to have it in the research .

  4. my black box was about Emailing experts

There are many benefits we can get from reporting the experts. To start with, our minds could be enriched with several knowledge as they send us detailed explanation, so we can get easily plenty of their experiences and experiments. In addition, emailing them gives as more self confidence to get the information because we depend on ourselves to have the knowledge’s without asking too much. Furthermore, we can save a lot of time. For instance, we don’t begin from the zero point we just continue from where they have reached. Without doubt emailing the experts is very useful and helpful way.

I attempted to email the University of Hong Kong but was not able to get results. But I was forced to think of questions I had.

    Black Box: Making Work Public

Making work public is a good way to share your opinion with other people and to share ideas with others.

In our class we shared by 1) a presentation to the class, 2) with this book, and 3) we will present it to the management team. This is useful because it well improve our language and skills of writing a report.

  8. Black Box: Ethics and Own Words

When we do research online we visit many sites. It is easy to copy and paste, but we must try to use the sites for collecting information. We need to find our facts there. Then we need to try and write what we understand in a new way for our purpose. This is ethical writing, but hard.

  10. Black Box: Being an Effective Team Member.

Being an effective team member is very important for building up a great piece of work. For example if you add all of the students’ efforts and put it together the work will be great. This is because student are trying to do their best to build their knowledge and this helps to make the work better.
As a team member we need to work hard, look deeper, and follow “some” guidelines, but we still have some choice.

  12. Black Box: Going Beyond the Walls of the Classroom
In this course there are many activities to be better on this semester. For example go outside the college because this activity helps us to find a lot experience for many sections so when we went to the Dubai College we saw a lot of examples of technology, for example: airplanes, hovercrafts, engines, and we discovered them with our own hands .
Also this activity helped us to know many people to share ideas with him. In addition we take a new experience from this kind of trip.

  13. Black Box: Becoming a Specialist
In this project I researched computers. I learned about computer networking and why security was created. I also learned many other things about its history. My classmates studies about the iPhone, GPS systems, and Bluetooth for example.
So, I can be a specialist in one area, but also I can learn about many other technologies and subjects from student interests. I am a specialist, we are all specialists. We are also all generalists.

  14. Black Box: Referencing a Webpage
The internet is an endless sea of knowledge and a maze of knowledge. Because of the huge amount of information that exists in the internet, it’s really hard to reach purposed information. So it’s very important to reference the webpage you’ve used as a source of information. There is a website called “noodlebib” and it helps to reference information taken from internet, by entering some simple details like the author’s name, the webpage title, the last date of update and the URL of the webpage (unique URL). In the end, referencing a webpage helps other to find the raw information you used and make searching easier.

  15. Black Box: Referencing
Plagiarism means copying something that a person wrote or said. So we need to reference it to be honest, and to give credit to them. And also if anybody wants more information they can go and find the original source.
