Materials: A New Chapter

You have decided to include Ahmed's project into the current paper. Richard has discussed it with you and you have started to mindmap the common materials between two technologies. As a group (of 2) write down your team (2 names) and the 2 technologies you are looking at. Then, describe the common materials - and finally mention the 1 you will focus on in light of Ahmed's project.

Give a little detail on the material this evening. Where did it originate? What time frame? Which nations? Why are the properties of the material important.

Have fun making connections.

Steve

  1. Hi,
    our material is copper
    Copper originate from the blacksmith.
it framed at least 10,000 years old.
    it is from metals nation.
this kind of material has many good properties like electirecal and thermal, that need in out life.

Can you find this for me

  3. I and Ahmed khalfan are working in an unique material which is called carbon nanotube according to our research paper The nano technology and the cloak of invisibilities as we found it related to our articles and suggested by our teacher Mr. Richard.
I’m going to give some details about the carbon nanotube. To start with, carbon nanotube made from carbon and nanostructure and the ratio of its length to diameters is 28000000:1. And it’s member of fullerene structure family. In addition, it serve us in many fields such as the military services.

  4. TODAY I CHOOSED MY MATERIAL AND ITS ALUMINIUM ACCORDING TO MY REASERCH AND MOHAMMED RABBA ARTICLE.
The metal derives its name from alumen, the Latin name for alum.it used in many things and many technologies and im trying to find more info.

  5. Thanks Omar Abdullah, Saif Saif, Mohammed, Mohammed, and Adnan for your post.

It is an interesting journey for me to follow your projects. I am learning so much with you and am excited about your final projects. Things are looking good - but we need a little more feedback from others on this.

I am wondering why Mohd. Al Tenaji, Hassan, and Fayez have not made comments as we had 2 hours in class to do so?

    Just get it done

  6. Some excellent connections being made here.

Saif and Omar, I like the way you have considered both the important properties of copper, and also some of the historical background. Background can usually help us to understand something more deeply. I wonder where the word "copper" comes from (see Mohamed and Mohamed's post about Aluminium)

Adnan and Ahmed, well done on continuing with carbon nanotubes. They are going to be very important soon - it will be interesting to see what you find out about them.

Mohamed and Mohamed - good research so far. I like the information about where the word comes from. I look forward to hearing about the use of "alumen" in aircraft and other technologies.

  7. Hi
i have choose with my friend Amaar a material which is same of Mohammed Hassan and Mohammed Rabba material which is aluminium, I have found quiet good information and I will discuse that with my partnar.
    sorry for my late post

  8. First of all, we came up with many materials for the two of us. I was looking on jetpacks and yousef was looking on rockets (rocketry). The common materials we came up with were aluminum, stainless steel, composites and rubber. The one we are going to focus on is rubber for Ahmed’s project.
This material which is rubber is used in the two for many reasons like filling the gaps and covering the equipments in the two technologies. For the first question the rubber is produced by two ways, the first way is using petroleum and the other way is from latex extracted from living trees. The two types come out with different types of rubber with different properties. It comes from South America and Southeast Asia. The properties are important for three main reasons which are for its use, viscosity and the function of the elastomers.

  10. OK - it is good to see that some of you are now with us, and it is very good to read your responses here as it helps us determine what we, as instructors, need to do next.

Thanks for taking the time to write here.

  11. I’m doing Material Chapter depending in myself. There are many materials related to aircraft for selecting such us glass, steel, stainless steel , the steel has been chosen .
The first people began making a kind of steel in India, around 250 BC .In addition,it is mixed between many materials such as iron chromium, often combined with nickel, to resist corrosion (rust).
